September 24, 2008 – Idaho Regional Optical Network (IRON) is pleased to announce its membership in The Quilt. IRON’s application for membership was approved on September 24, 2008 at The Quilt’s fall meeting held in Newport, Rhode Island.

The Quilt is a national organization comprised of nearly 30 regional optical networks working towards advancing the research and education network communities. Through this coalition, the Quilt promotes delivery of networking services at lower cost, higher performance and greater reliability and security.

"Our Quilt affiliation offers IRON a breadth of proven networking knowledge, practical operational insight, and collective buying power that cannot be found anywhere else," said Brent Stacey, IRON’s President. "We are proud to be accepted as a member of this nation-wide organization."

IRON looks forward to supporting the Quilt’s charter and to participating in future innovative projects.
